I have a traditional, representational approach to most subjects and prefer the natural look rather than a distorted view of Nature. It is difficult at times to pinpoint precisely what interests me because many things catch my eye; however, I am usually attracted to light and shade, contrasts and subtleties as opposed to vivid multi-coloured contemporary colour-schemes.

My background was in scientific and technical work, which has exposed me to lots of detailed subject-matter in terms of work-routine and observation. Sometimes this is very useful.....but sometimes a hindrance.  I have had no formal art training, having simply attended many local art classes over the past forty years. My interests are floral and landscape themes, but I also like to experiment with and explore other realms, with various media, including the occasional trip into more abstract spaces.

I am in the southwest of England, UK. I have painted since the 1970's and tried out most media; oils and pastels remain favourites.The majority of my pictures are medium to smaller sizes, which are easier to handle in the restricted working space that I currently have. Small format art has always been a particular interest.
