Flowers, Still Life Paintings

Christine decided to start painting flowers in the late 1990s, when, due to a back problem, she found it difficult to get out and about. She has tried floral subjects in various media and still prefers to keep an open mind on which ones to use when planning a picture.

Soft pastels and occasionally pastel pencils have tended to give the most successful results, when dealing with flowers. Still life themes are relatively recent additions and Christine may produce a small number during a year.

"It is usually always best to work directly from the flowers, although winter-time does make this a little tricky. At such times I might work from earlier drawings or photos; or turn to other genres."
