Apart from my home area, I find interesting land and coastal-scapes on holiday or while I am away from home for a day. For these I prefer pastels or oils on a small-format scale (up to around 14 x 10 inches, or 35 x 25 cm). During the past year, however, I have relaxed my personal restrictions and explored other media, including pen and ink and occasionally gouache.

Clouds and water often feature in a work, or strong contrasts of light. Rather than paint a wide sweeping view I will focus inwards on a section of landscape.
